Welcome everyone to another glorious edition of the Phat Daily Column. This may be a sentimental column, for this might be the LAST ever WCW Pay Per View hype column. *sniff* Despite usually putting on terrible Pay Per Views anyway, the fact that the federation may be closing depresses me. Why?

Because WCW has always had the resources to compete. Just look at their padded talent roster. They have strong midcarders like Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Kanyon, and two up and comers in Chuck Palumbo and Shawn O'Haire. Instead of even thinking about a push for those wrestlers, we MUST watch Rick Steiner do well instead. WHO THE FUCK WANTS TO SEE RICK STEINER? It's very funny, too, to watch some 1989 Pay Per Views to see a Rick Steiner in much better shape and fighting over the TV title. Now, some 12 years later, he's the US champ and way over 40.

But this blindness about how to run a wrestling federation finally caught up to WCW. First, we had Ole Anderson stinking up the place with his horrible booking. Black Scorpion as the top angle for Sting? Come on! OR, you could look back to 1991 where they had Dusty Rhodes in charge or in 1992 with Bill Watts running the place, and you could see how bad WCW ran themselves then. How could we forget 1993, Eric Bischoff's first year? Bischoff nearly ran the company into the ground in 1993, making some of the worst talent and booking decisions known to man. With the Hulk Hogan era of 1994 - 1995, WCW let Hogan rule the place, only to see the ratings remain the same. Even when WCW was ahead with their NEW WORLD ORDER, WCW couldn't stay on top without having bad management problems. Not even Vince Russo can clean this mess, as he even screws up the company. Russo got fired, and goofball Kevin Sullivan nearly kills WCW in the ratings and locker room morale. Not even the combination of Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo could get their shit together enough to run a well managed WCW.

So in closing for this introduction, just remember that WCW only shot themselves in the foot. Had they taken time to notice all of their ridiculous mistakes, instead of having an ego trip with each booker they had, then maybe we'd talk about a federation that had much stiffer competition. Instead, we're talking about a federation that nobody wants to buy, nor do they want to show on television anymore. It's so sad, because I've been watching this mismanaged federation ever since it was a part of the NWA in 1988, and I've always been a loyal viewer. But now, it's most likely that I can't watch it, therefore, losing all hope that I could see this federation get their shit together.

On to the PDC...

(I finished Chyna's book late last night! Review tomorrow!)

WCW Greed Predictions

As for history? Ummm, well this Pay Per View used to be called Spring Stampede, until this year. I don't really feel like reviewing old Spring Stampede news, but what I feel like doing is to suggest you to buy or rent Spring Stampede 1999. That's truly an excellent show for its time, so check that out.

Hugh Morrus and Konnan vs. Team Canada: Mike Awesome and Lance Storm
You know it's sad when WCW.com says that "WCW officials are mighty pleased with Konnan and Hugh Morrus as a tag team". Shit, shit, shit!!!! I can't believe how guys like Konnan and Morrus could impress someone. They suck. Face it, both guys have been in WCW since around 1995/1996, and neither guy has improved his wrestling ability or have they proven themselves to be over. The only time Konnan was over was when he was a part of the NWO, making everyone say his Spanish phrases. As for Morrus, WCW *thought* he was over as General Rection, but the fans never cheered. These two guys are just wastes of space, and Storm and Awesome shouldn't have to resort to putting them over. They are better than that.
Tito's Pick: Konnan and Hugh "Cares About" Morrus?

Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Shawn Stasiak
It's being reported that Bam Bam will be on the WCW chopping block, even with the possible shut down coming up. It's funny how Bam Bam can just pop out of no where when he wants to. Anyway, it's quite obvious that Shawn Stasiak will get the win now, and advance his career. He finally has a gimmick that works.
Tito's Pick: Perfectshawn Stasiak

The Cat vs. Kanyon
Who's better than Kanyon? Nobody! Who gains more crowd heat than Kanyon? The Cat! Face it folks, the Cat is the most over wrestler in WCW right now. It's funny that Bischoff can really see this in his best friends. Kanyon will be used, here, as advancement talent, so for you Kanyon marks, it might be wise to avoid this Pay Per View.
Tito's Pick: The Cat

Dusty and Dustin Rhodes vs. Ric Flair and Jeff Jarrett
Anybody up for comedy? I hope a real positive comes out of this match, and that is to have Ric Flair become a regular wrestler again. Now that's what I care about, and WCW could use him to help younger wrestlers. But dreams are for fools, and WCW's dream is running out. Winners: The Rhodes Boys

Cruiserweight Tag Titles: Kid Romeo/Elix Skipper vs. Kidman/Rey-Rey
Prime Time here, Prime Time here.... God, I hate that theme song! Speaking of theme songs, I hate the Ricky Martin imitation theme for Romeo, too. This should be an excellent match, although with the Jung Dragons, it could have been better. I see Kidman and Rey-Rey being awarded here for working in the Cruiserweight division, and I hope they put the titles on the line often after this.
Tito's Pick: Kidman and Rey-Rey

Cruiserweight Title: Chavo Guerrero vs. Shane Helms
Have we seen this match a few times? I think it's Shane Helms's time to shine, and for Chavo to step aside (isn't his contract running out?). Shane Helms has been working some great matches lately, and he should continue that trend as champion. I look forward to it.
Tito's Pick: Shane Helms

World Tag Titles: Chuck Palumbo/Shawn O'Haire vs. Totally Buff
Plain and simple: Totally Buff has been paying their dues like a motherfucker leading up to this match, therefore, they'll win the titles. Luger, especially, has been jobbing left and right. Hell, he even put over Chuck Palumbo twice, a man who he refused to work with last year. Amazing how people can sometimes mature, isn't it?
Tito's Pick: Totally Buff

US Title: Booker T vs. Rick Steiner
Screw you Rick Steiner. For this match, I see some kind of run in or an oddball disqualification for Rick "I Suck" Steiner to retain the title. Why? WCW will probably have Booker T vs. Scott Steiner at the next Pay Per View, most likely. There, Booker T will probably get his belt back. Oh wait, will there be a Pay Per View to wrestle on? Look for lots of stiff shit from Rick Steiner, which douchebags like Eric Bischoff and Johnny Ace love to ignore.
Tito's Pick: Dick Steiner

World Title: Diamond Dallas Page vs. Scott Steiner
I don't know if those rumors are true or not about DDP lobbying to win the World Title, but I see Steiner retaining to move on to a feud with Booker T. Of course, what else can you do with DDP though? I don't know, but I have a good feeling about Steiner winning, therefore, I'll pick him.
Tito's Pick: Scott Steiner

If I forgot a match, blame WCW.com and not Mr. Tito.

No, I will NOT sell or make any copies for anyone concerning the Vince McMahon "On the Record" segment. For one, I can't mass produce here, and two, I don't need the Big Brother WWF breathing down my neck for the distribution of a simple interview on HBO. So stop bugging me about it, please!!!! I will NOT sell or send anyone a tape of it. Just convince your parents to buy HBO, and enjoy the channel. Besides finally seeing Vince on "On the Record", you can enjoy great movies, Oz, Arli$$, the Sopranos, Sex in the City, and so much more that other cable stations don't have the balls to carry.

HBO is the best cable station, period. So buy the damn channel instead. Especially for Oz, which is the best show on television. :)

ESPN recap

I didn't catch any of the games, so no opinion offered here. Outlaws show themselves as one of the best teams in the league, and the Hitmen finally win another.

Today's Games

Orlando Rage vs. Los Angeles Xtreme at 4:00 on TNN

San Francisco Demons vs. Chicago Enforcers at 7:00 on UPN

Damn, the Rage vs. Xtreme game should be a good football game over on TNN. That's two of the best teams in the league, squaring off. If Orlando wins, they will be 7-0 and have beaten each team in the league at least once. The Xtreme should be their best competition to deal with yet.
