Mr. Tito's Phat Daily Column

Reported by: Mr. Tito on April 07, 1999

Welcome back to the one and only Phat Daily Column. Holy smokes! The ratings are in, and I, as always will take a look at what happened. With that being said, on to the PDC.

Ratings

WCW Monday Nitro

First Hour: 4.2
Second Hour: 4.2
Third Hour: 4.5
Composite: 4.3

WWF Raw is War

First Hour: 5.5
Second Hour: 6.1
Composite: 5.85

Head To Head

RAW: 5.85
NITRO: 4.3

-Oh wow, what does this tell us. For one, it tells us that everyone and their mother decided to watch wrestling Monday Night, because the two combined produces a rather high rating. Also, it tells us that WCW put on a good show. The new look made a difference, and it even raised it's ratings as the show went on, of course so did the WWF. WWF started at a 5.5, which is good, but they are usually pushing in the sixes during the first hour. Anyways, this week shows that WCW can gain ground, and I'm very sure the WWF will be ready next week when they are live to try to widen the gap, so that the new look Nitro will never ever gain on them. Next week should be a battle in terms of Monday Night shows, with WCW going off their "just announced" Spring Stampede matches, and with RAW live. Just keep in mind also, that this was a TAPED Raw, and some people also read the results so that they don't get a finger injury from constantly flipping the channels from one show to the other.

WCW

-As reported by many, it was said that Scott Hall WILL return, but as a very limited role, only showing up on Nitros and Pay Per Views. I say that's garbage. I don't care what he's been through in his life, but if he's getting paid millions of dollars, he shouldn't just have to make about 5 wrestling appearances a month. There are guys making much less that are busting their asses at every Thunder, Saturday Night, Nitro, Pay Per View, and even the House Shows. I swear, if you go to WCW, you get paid to do absolutely nothing. That's so pathetic.

-Bret Hart went through his surgery successfully yesterday. I wish him a speedy recovery, and I hope he finally gets his due in WCW. They need to finally give him a push or at least a good angle that he deserves when he comes back. I hated his heel angle where they made him out to be a madman, attacking every wrestler that he fought. He needs to be the excellence of execution, and WCW should let him finally show it.

-Well, tonight we have Thunder, which is because the Baseball game is pre-empting it. Which reminds me, the lovely, yet nobody cares, NBA playoffs are coming up. Of course, if there is a TNT playoff game on Monday, who will get that 8-11 timeslot? WCW? No Chance In Hell, even though wrestling would probably get better ratings than B-Ball now, because like I said before, nobody cares about the NBA. WCW better gain some ground with their new set up quickly before those boring NBA playoffs come around.

WWF

-Uh oh, the ABC corporation is unleashing 20/20 tonight, and they are going to mostly aim at the WWF. As I have said before, ABC has a personal vendetta vs. wrestling, especially the WWF, who is on top now. They are so furious about their Monday Night Football ratings being down, that they are trying their best to put on wrestling exposed shows, just so maybe some viewers will watch their ignorant Monday Night games. I don't know, maybe I'm missing something on those games, since I haven't watched them in years.

-Just so you know, the Ken Shamrock/Ryan Shamrock angle was supposively killed off. I say that's B.S. I don't even think that this angle was ever going to be even thought of, it's just a lousy rumor that went around. Sure the WWF has had many low angles thoughout the years, but an incest angle, come on! That's way below everyone's tastes.

-Reports are that Bart Gunn is going back to Japan, because there obviously isn't anything for him in the WWF. Hmm.. This one's interesting. As I said in my Wrestlemania report, I thought the fight was a work, just so he would come back on Raw and be humiliated by Dr. Death and J.R. for losing so badly. I was obviously wrong. It just looked like a work, because Bart Gunn made it seem obvious to me that he held his guard down. Maybe Butterbean is a really good boxer than I thought he was.
